Women's Choir

We were just a group of overachieving seniors (just kidding) who all had at least 85 Averages and we just helped the community and everyone around us by raising money for breast cancer, leukemia, etc. We did walks, Pennies for Patients, etc. along with Secret Santa's and Secret Valentine's. We just wanted to help the community. Personally, I received 200 community service hours from this and was able to be recognized by NHS during graduation.

Junior - Senior year I was participating in the InterSchool Orchestra's of New York's Symphonic Band, in which I played Oboe. We performed in various places such as, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and Symphony Space. We performed along side multiple other groups as well.

Here I was able to improve both my Clarinet playing and my Oboe playing. I was able to perform with this band for the duration of my Junior year. We performed multiple times a year and had 2 cycles. In the first cycle I played Clarinet and in the second cycle I played Oboe.

Junior Year I began my studies on Tenor Saxophone and got into the beginner Jazz Ensemble (jazz B). My second semester I got into the Top Jazz Ensemble (Jazz A) becoming 2nd Tenor. That year Jazz B got a gold at Level 2 at NYSSMA and Jazz A got a gold with distinction at Level 6 (the highest level and the highest rating) performing Decoupage, Central Park West, and Dancing Men. Senior Year Jazz Band A got a Gold at Level 6 performing Count Bubba, Jazz Police, and But Beautiful, getting comments from the representative saying we should've gotten gold with distinction.

In band I was able to test myself in a different way. I began in the beginning/concert band on Clarinet, I moved up into the Symphonic Band (the 2nd highest group) becoming second chair on clarinet, and into the Wind Ensemble (the top group) on Bass Clarinet my sophomore year. That year I began learning Oboe. Junior year I became first chair on Oboe (and the only oboist in the school) and began learning Tenor Saxophone for Jazz. We attracted attention from various groups all over the world. Such as the Barker College bands in Australia (and a few others), a band in California, and Wisconsin. We also performed alongside the Brooklyn Wind Symphony multiple times and performed at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, Music For All (Metropolitan Wind Band Invitational), etc. We were also honored to have Michael Markowski join us to work on various pieces, we also did the Brooklyn release of his piece "Brooklyn Air."

In my Sophomore year I join the All City High School Marching Band for the the Fall and Winter and then joined the All City Concert Band until the end of my Senior year. I played Clarinet/Bass Clarinet for Marching Band and then for Concert Band for the first year. Junior year I played Oboe until the end of my Senior year, becoming first chair for both years. We were honored to have David Maslanka join us to critique us. Every year we preformed at NYU's Skirball Center.

A group of students working together to create music, vocally. In Choir I was able to be myself and test my limits as a vocalist. I have a multiple octave range, going from anywhere from Baritone/Tenor to Soprano.

A group of students who excelled musically in choir and were selected for the top choir in the school. In both choir and select/advanced choir I was a soprano, since we needed more soprano power! Haha. We also had the chance to meet Francisco Nunez and John Green.
