Hi! I am Fallon Hyder, a senior Social Work major at Mars Hill with minors in Sociology and Women's Studies. I am the President of the Lambda Beta chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, the women's music fraternity on campus. Through my time here at Mars Hill, I have learned a lot of things- I love working with children, and hope to continue to do so through my path of social work. As much as I love working one on one with individuals, I have truly found my place working with macro populations, through policies & grant-writing. I hope to continue to work for and with non-profits after graduation, but am hoping to take a little time to get to know myself better. You cannot take care of others until you take care of yourself. I wish I would have learned this lesson sooner in my undergraduate experience. In my free time, you can see me playing my various array of musical instruments, taking a hike, or working on my poetry & spoken word!

Bonner Scholar
The Bonner Program provides a scholarship to students in exchange for weekly commitment to intensive and meaningful service with a local community organization over the four years as an undergraduate student with our campus partners.
In addition to their service, Bonner students engage in trainings on leadership development and social justice topics in an effort to encourage students to become aware of how the problems and issues of their communities influence their service work and public policy.
Through this internship, I have had various different service sites, in which I have learned so much about my surrounding areas in Madison and Buncombe Counties. Through this scholarship, I have been able to help many different non-profits, including the YMCA, Girl Scout Peaks to Piedmont, Eliada, Youth Outright, among others.
