Gabriela Lozano

Majored in Microbiology
University of Iowa, Class of 2017
From Bettendorf, IA
I am a senior at The University of Iowa studying Microbiology with a Public Health interest. I have a passion for community building, animal rights, social justice, and health sciences which have led me to my job as a Health Sciences Resident Assistant for the second year. As a Resident Assistant I incorporate my passion of Public Health by encouraging healthy lifestyles while building a comfortable, positive, and safe living environment for the community. My passion for social justice has led me to become founder and president of a new student organization at the University of Iowa known as Under Your Wing with the purpose of volunteering and fundraising for Shelter House but most importantly raising awareness for people experiencing homelessness specifically in the Iowa City community. I like to keep an open mind regarding new learning experiences and opportunities that will help me grow as a student and community member.
