George "Ted" Riegel
I graduated Summa Cum Laude and With Honors in Chemistry in May of 2016. My honors thesis was completed with Dr. Roxy Lowry Swails, which focused on the synthesis and application of a water soluble NHC palladium complex for catalysis of the Heck reaction in aqueous solvents. In the spring of 2016, I presented this research to The American Chemical Society in San Diego.
I will be attending graduate school in the fall of 2016 where I will be pursuing a PhD in chemistry.

Excel Scholar 2015: Ted conducted research with Melissa Galloway, Ph.D. in the Analytical Chemistry department studying atmospheric aerosol chemistry. Their team researched secondary organic aerosol formation and growth, the uptake of small biogenic molecules, and the formation of aerosol precursors.
Excel Scholar 2014: Ted conducted research with William Miles, Ph.D, where they investigated the effects of phenyl substituents on shielding of a trifluoromethyl group in its shielding region.
