Renate Gyenge

I am currently a junior student at Miami University. I aim to graduate in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology with a double minor in Neuroscience and Anthropology. I am on the path to either apply to optometry school after graduation or to a medical school. I am currently involved with many organizations on campus. I am a part of Tau Beta Sigma, a music sorority aimed to serve the Miami University Marching band and the nearby community in community service and volunteer activities. I am also a part of Kappa Phi, a Christian sisterhood organization also with a focus on community service and volunteering. Pre-Optometry club is another activity that I take part in, to get involved with a career oriented organization. I also helped start a new student organization - Romanian Club. It's still at it's early stages, but we are planning on many cultural activities, along with fundraisers in the future! I have experience in research from working in Katia Del Rio-Tsonis's Retinal Regeneration Lab at Miami University. My job is to evaluate the role the PI3 kinase pathway has on retinal regeneration in baby chicks.
