Halie Selsor

Majoring in Eng: Language Arts Teacher Ed
Eastern Illinois University, Class of 2027
From East Lynn, IL
Driven by a love for literature, storytelling, and the transformative power of education, I am passionate about fostering inclusive classrooms where students feel empowered to explore their identities and perspectives through reading, writing, and discussion. My teaching philosophy centers on integrating social justice themes and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) strategies to ensure every student, regardless of background, has access to meaningful and engaging instruction. Outside the classroom, I find inspiration in nature, reading, and writing each of which deepens my appreciation for storytelling across different mediums. I believe creativity fuels connection and understanding. I also share my home with my fiance and our two wonderful cats, who remind me daily of the joy found in small moments. As I prepare to graduate, I am refining my teaching portfolio and lesson plans to reflect my commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education. I look forward to creating classrooms where literature becomes a tool for advocacy, critical thinking, and personal growth.
