Henry Blumenthal
I am a academic, director, creative director, and producer. I have created applications, augmented reality apps, iphone and android apps, websites, iTV interfaces, games, commercials, music videos and many feature films. Awards include Webbys for Sputnik7 and Epitonic websites, a Peabody for "The Great Space Coaster," and the Grand Jury Prize for "In the Soup" at Sundance. I am currently a full time researcher and instructor in digital media.
Recent work includes: Lead Designer on a universal threshold object to allow immersive TV stories for Intel at Georgia Institute of Technology, Creative Consultant, UX and Design for an intelligent banking system app for creating large scale bank units for INSORCE Inc.,
Creative Director/Transmedia Producer/Researcher of a transmedia storyscape, a franchise model. Storyscape is a term I applied in two papers I published.
Currently: Instructor at Georgia institute of Technology where I am a PhD candidate focusing on transmedia storytelling, experimental TV, and games. Previously I was a Program Manager, Emerging Media at Schematic working on multi-platform projects for Microsoft, Conde Nast, MTV, Comedy Central, Panasonic, and Nickelodeon among others.
Before Schematic I was Director, Post Production IFC Films, Director of Design and Production for NBC/Bravo/IFC Digital Media and while a Producer at R/GA produced sonystyles.com, sothebys.com, among others. Sputnik7.com won a Webby Award for Best Music Site in 2001 while I was Director of Production at Palm Pictures.
I have produced 15 feature films including In the Soup, Risk, and Strawberry Fields. In addition I produced commercials and directed award winning music videos, shorts, and interactive drama.
