February, 03 2017 - Verified by University of IowaI recently started training for my internship at the Bird House Hospice Home, which is a community-based not for profit dedicated to providing compassionate end-of-life care by focusing on the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of our guests and their loved ones in a peaceful, home-like environment. I am interning as a caregiver and maintaining accurate records of guest care, progress, and concerns. In addition, I will respond appropriately to the physical and emotional needs of guests by performing direct patient care aimed at increasing comfort. This hands-on experience will make me a more well-rounded health professional.
I work as a Research Assistant for the Department of Neurology at the UIHC. Here, I enter data and make outbound calls to research participants for an ongoing study regarding the effectiveness of group therapy for community-dwelling older adults.
As a CSR, I assist students, faculty and staff, and the general public in understanding university policies and bills. I also make outgoing courtesy calls to non-students with past due university bills and retrieved payments. In doing so, I have mastered the university information systems and databases (MAUI, Service Manager, ID Production, DNA).
