Best Buddies

Being a part of the Best Buddies organization has been one of my favorite activities as a student at The University of Iowa. I had the opportunity to be a peer buddy and create a friendship with Ed who I now consider one of my closest friends at school. Going to the group events, seeing movies, and eating ice cream was a great way to bond and make a friendship that is strong to this day.

Big Brothers Big Sisters at Iowa

As a big sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program at Iowa, I have had the opportunity to work closely with students who are in seventh and eighth grade. My little sister is named Isabel and she was in the seventh grade this past year. Each week, we would review her grades and make sure that the work she needed to complete was turned in on time and done to the best of her ability. Seeing her success and her grades rise was very rewarding and I look forward to working with her more this upcoming school year.

OnIowa! Leader

As an OnIowa! leader, I was responsible for teaching and affiliating new incoming students with what being a student at The University of Iowa is all about. My partner and I went through two days of training and were given power points, lessons, and other resources to teach the new students all they needed to know. I was someone who they were able to ask questions to, talk to, and be a friendly face on campus with.

Staffing Recruiter at Nexus Employment Solutions Plus

I started working at Nexus my senior year of high school and was responsible for recruiting entry level employees to be placed in open positions at various businesses. I also helped with anything that was needed around the office such as cleaning, projects, or completing administrative tasks. Currently, I am recruiting employees to be placed in temporary service positions and other positions within the business and other local businesses.
