Dr. Jane Close Conoley is the seventh president of California State University, Long Beach.
Prior to coming to CSULB, Conoley was dean of the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). From December 2012 to August 2013 she served as interim Chancellor of UC Riverside, and has held faculty and leadership positions at Texas A&M University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The author, co-author, or editor of 21 books and more than 100 articles and book chapters, Conoley earned a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. Her recent research focuses on the application of experimental findings from studies on positive psychology to classroom and other organizational settings.
Conoley has presented papers and lectured throughout the world, and has won university-level teaching and professional organization service awards. The American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science have granted her fellow status.
