Justin Powell

Hi, Im Justin Powell but I also go by jP. I am currently working as a freelance musician for local churches but have spent more than 10 years working full time in the entertainment and media industries. I have recently stepped away from full time gigging to pursue a higher level of education. In 2013 I found myself neck deep in soul searching and rediscovering my strengths as an MBTI type of INTJ (Introverted, iNtuitive, Thinking, Judging) personality. I realized just how hard I had pushed myself to be successful in an industry that is driven by extraverted personality types. I also realized that I had found success in the industry as I had desired. And that it was time for a change. That summer I was presented with an opportunity to take a road trip that I had considered for a few years. I hit the road for a month and traveled across the country. I took a fairly direct route to California and then explored and adventured my way across the southwestern states. The trip fueled a desire to connect with the western states on a deeper level as I have developed a strong affinity for the Colorado landscapes. Upon returning home I decided to go back to school. After researching career options fitting for an INTJ, I noticed that Mechanical Engineering, CAD technician, and Design engineer were the most often repeated results. I decided that instate tuition was very attractive and enrolled at Sothern Polytechnic State University. I am currently focusing my energy on obtaining success in my classes while keeping an open mind about the future. I believe the best way I can live my life is by gaining experiences and sharing whatever wisdom I acquire along the way. jporiginal@icloud.com
