From Albany
According to John Holland's theory, most people are one of six personality types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. My highest themes were found to be Enterprising, Social & Art. No surprise there. I like to lead and persuade people, and to sell things and ideas. I have a verbal ability to motivate and direct others. I value success in leadership and business. I enjoy participating in teams, and see myself as energetic, ambitious, and sociable. I like to do things to help people -- like, volunteering and mentoring. I see myself as helpful, friendly, and trustworthy. Lastly, I value people who are expressive, original, and independent. In my current position, I am one member of the administrative hub that provides support for a federally contracted program under the Research Foundation for the State University of New York. In the six months that I've been there, I've become an asset to the program. Because I am bilingual, I speak fluent Spanish, I have all but eliminated the need for the admin hub to use interpreter services when assisting Spanish-speaking callers. I am more than happy to take those calls and assist callers that may have otherwise felt intimidated to call in the first place. When I started working there I created a "cheat sheet" I could refer to as I learned more about the program, more about my tasks, and more about the people we were serving. My compiled notes will be used to create a future employee manual for new employees to read and familiarize themselves with the program. Where do I see myself in the future? My top interests are: sales, public speaking, social sciences, marketing, and advertising. I have no doubt that life will slowly guide me where I need to be. I want to utilize my experience in sales, my studies in research and analysis, exploit my knowledge of the Spanish language and culture, and mold myself into a professional.

Project Staff Assistant at The Research Foundation for SUNY
The Research Foundation for the State University of New York (RF-SUNY) is a private, nonprofit corporation under contract to the State University of New York (SUNY) for the administration of sponsored research and programs conducted by faculty and staff at SUNY's sixty-four campuses. We are affiliated with Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy at the University at Albany. The Professional Development Program (PDP) is housed under Rockfeller College of Public Affairs & Policy, however we are employees of the Research Foundation for SUNY. The Professional Development Program provides a variety of early childhood training activities, one of which is the Educational Incentive Program. The Educational Incentive Program (EIP) is a scholarship program which helps providers pay for training and educational activities with the intent to build provider knowledge, skills and competencies and improve the quality of childcare. To be eligible for EIP, child care providers must be required to take training and must be caring for children in a program regulated by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (NYS OCFS) or the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH). My role as Project Staff Assistant requires that I: * Complete a detailed review of EIP program applications for compliance with all program requirements * Use effective interviewing skills and critical thinking skills to obtain clarification and additional information from applicants and training organizations * Assist in the continued development of EIP operating procedures * Assist in the development of EIP program materials
