Jeremiah Wayne

Currently, I am pursuing a dual-degree in Biology (B.S.) and Neuroscience (B.S.) with a minor in Mathematics, and I will be graduating from the Lewis Honors College at the University of Kentucky (UK) in the spring of 2019. My primary mission for my time at UK is to prepare myself for a career in medicine by taking advantage of out-of-the-classroom enrichment opportunities, conducting research under the supervision and guidance of university faculty members, learning how to balance my academic ambitions with other aspects of life (physical and mental health, community engagement, etc.), and growing intellectually through undergraduate course engagement. My foremost aspiration is to improve the overall health of my community and alleviate suffering in as many people as possible. I am working to accomplish this by becoming a physician, specifically in the field of either neurology or pediatrics. In addition to pursuing an MD, I also have an interest in attaining an MD/MPH or MD/PhD in order to best serve my community and continue conducting research on disorders of the nervous system. By living a life dedicated to service and public health, I aim to leave a lasting, positive impact that affects many other facets of our vastly interconnected society.
