Happiness
'Happiness' is an acrylic portrait piece that was submitted for the final in Jessica's ART111 course in Fall 2024.
'Happiness' is a piece inspired by the feminist art movement of the 1960's specifically referring to Judy Chicago and her dinner plate exhibition. Not only were many inspirations pulled from Judy Chicago and the feminist art movement of the 1960's, Jessica also conducted extensive research on The Woodstock Art and Music Fair of 1969 while working on this piece. Throughout her research, Jessica found strong connections between Janis Joplin (the woman in the portrait) and what she wanted to express within her painting. After 16 hours, Jessica produced an intricate grey scale painting that will live on in time. Following this painting, Jessica did decide to carry this on as a three part series titled, 'Peace' 'Love' and 'Happiness'.
