Student Organization Leadership Consultants (SOLC)

This organization is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the retreats of various other organizations on campus, from Greek life to clubs. As consultants, we work with representatives from the clubs we're leading, determine what specific skills or qualities they want to develop within their groups, and then form a team of facilitators tasked with choosing what initiatives or energizers we will lead. At the retreats, each facilitator is individually responsible for different challenges, working to establish camaraderie, tear down any barriers between members, reinforce valuable leadership skills in executive boards, or more for the other organizations. At meetings, we debrief and reflect on how well we did, what could be changed or improved, and constantly learn new techniques and tactics to better serve others.

The University of Rhode Island's very own student run on-campus think tank, Thrive acts as a platform for students to pitch their own passion projects and receive criticism, resources, and outside opinions to keep their ideas moving forward. Weekly this organization discusses how we can help our own student populations while also coordinating ChangeFest, a Rhode Island-wide one day changeathon, empowering students from various universities to come together, meet with mentors, and develop a tangible plan to improve college campuses in various topics, from environmental improvement to mental health discussions and aid.
