Water Polo Manager
My senior year I sustained a rib injury right before the Water Polo season and became unable to play, but that didnt stop me. I became the team manager, I was at every game and took on a role similar to a coaches assistant. I kept all the girls on track, checked everyone had their correct suit and cap for the games, made sure they warmed up at the right times, and got them ready for buses and such. During the games I took the stats and cheered on the team. I diligently marked every stat and play so the couch could easily figure out a practice plan and had something to study other than tapes for sectional games, as well as teaching the rising seniors how to keep up with the stats after I graduate. I did my best to stay involved and be there for my team, and according to them I did just that.

ASL Club
In between my seasons I went to the ASL club. I grew up around kids who were nonverbal or simply had trouble communicating for one reason or another, and I was one of those children. When I was little my mom taught me some basic ASL so I could communicate to her my needs and so I could have an easier time communicating with my nonverbal cousin. The need for ASL is much bigger than most people realize, so I wanted to learn it. I still only know a little, but Ive continued trying to learn.

Water Polo
Along with swimming, I also played water polo for my high school! The games were always exciting and definitely brought out a more competitive side of me. There are no set positions in water polo, so I learned quickly to adapt, but I excelled in defense. No matter how much the other team scratched, kicked, and pushed, I stayed cool and put the pressure on them. But anything in a team sport is a team effort, and dI understood that well. We all worked together to cover our defense and attack hard with our offense.

Swim Team
I was on the high school swim team all four years of high school. We had 6 practices a week, each two and a half hours long. Our team took dedication and a lot of hard work to continue getting better across our three month season, but we all came together and made it happen. Even though a swim meet is filled with individual events our team was a family, and we had each others back. Even after four years, graduating, and moving to different states, that team is still with me, and those experiences will forever be cherished memory. Aside from family, the swim team created leaders out of us all. Especially as an upperclassman it became my responsibility to make sure everyone had everything they needed and was where they were supposed to be. I helped freshman learn our cheers, reminded the team about what color swim caps they would need for the next day, and made sure we all matched, wearing out Lincoln-Way gear to represent our team.

Swim Instructor at Chicago Swim School

I teach people of all ages how to swim, from blowing bubbles out of their nose to mastering competitive strokes. With half hour lessons once a week I try my best to connect with every kid in the short time I have them for, and that very thing is what Im known for at work. It is honestly my favorite part of the job. I love watching my kids grow and I love to see them smile, beaming with pride at their accomplishments. I love to cultivate a safe space for my kids that is filled with confidence. I love to teach them to accept failures and move foreword, and I love to teach them to be proud. As I change them, they change me, and there is nothing greater than that.

July 2022 - Present
Sales Associate at TCBY

I worked at TCBY during the winter, and being an ice cream store they only had one person on shift at a time in the winter months. I worked night shifts after school and I rose to the challenge of managing a store. I did everything from customer service to cleaning and upkeep. I answered questions, ran the cash register, filled toppings, ran the ice cream machines, unloaded deliveries, cleaned the shop, counted the drawer, and locked up at the end of the night. It truly was a good experience, teaching me independence and I am thankful for the lessons.
