Katie Johnson

I am currently a nursing student at Linfield School of Nursing with aspirations of becoming a nurse anesthetist in the near future. Before coming to Linfield, I studied biochemistry at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi and then moved back to Oregon to pursue a nursing degree in my home state. I grew up going to Sherwood High School and was greatly involved in soccer and showing horses at both at a state, regional, and national level. My whole life I have pushed to challenge myself in order be the best version of myself. As a result, academics have always been something I have taken pride in and used to better myself as a whole. My academic accomplishments include graduating from high school with an Advanced Honors Diploma and as valedictorian of my class, continuing to maintain a 4.0 GPA, and being on the Dean's List of every college I have attended. I grew up in a family of nurses which aided in my passion for work in the medical field. In addition, I was accepted into Linfield's study abroad program in which I will be traveling to New Zealand to study international healthcare come Jan Term 2022. I love to look at nursing through the lens of an ever-evolving challenge and chance to grow. Through my education, I have realized you are never done studying or learning new material. There are always new insights, ways to better yourself, new challenges, and new goals to set. By having this opportunity to gain knowledge on healthcare at an international level, it is a once and a lifetime experience. I look forward to representing Linfield and taking the knowledge I learn on this incredible trip and apply it directly in my nursing education and career.
