Dr. Kristin Burton is the Executive Director of the Lowell Stahl Center for Entrepreneurship and Real Estate in the College of Business at Lewis University. As Executive Director she oversees all entrepreneurship activities across three campuses as well as the Lewis regional innovation incubator. Also, Dr. Burton teaches in the management department and focuses her research on opportunities for greater inclusion of minorities and women in entrepreneurship. In her current role, Burton also leads the Lowell Stahl Center advisory board which is comprised of municipal and community leaders in Will County.
Dr. Burton has more than a decade of experience in government, business, and commercial real estate. Prior to her appointment at Lewis University, Dr. Burton, worked for the City of Chicago, department of planning and development overseeing all commercial real estate development in South Loop and Near South-side. After leaving the city, Dr. Burton was recruited to create the Commercial Real Estate academic program at Roosevelt University; where she worked closely with real estate legends to form programs for women and minorities. During her tenure at Roosevelt, Dr. Burton was named Assistant Dean of the College of Business where she oversaw the entire undergraduate business program spanning two campuses.
As a progressive civic leader, Dr. Burton has been recognized for her exemplary service by both Roosevelt and Lewis University and was characterized as a rising star by Crains Chicago Business. Burton currently serves on the City of Chicago Low Income Housing Trust Fund Board, the Naperville, IL-based incubator, Hub 88, advisory board.
Dr. Burton holds three Masters degrees in Business, Accounting and Commercial Real Estate and a Doctorate in Business Administration from University of Wisconsin.
