February, 23 2017 - Clemson UniversityAs a Writing Fellow through Clemson Honors, I collaborate with incoming and current students to improve their interdisciplinary writing skills and practices.
As a Copy Editor for The Tiger Newspaper, I catch and correct mistakes related to grammar, structure, and voice and make suggestions for improvements on about three articles per week every week during an academic semester. I also contribute on occasion, producing three articles for the newspaper so far, which can be found under my publications tab.
As an entry level employee at NCG Cinemas Fischer Crossings, I work a variety of jobs including cashier, ticket taker, usher, and refill. All of these roles utilize and expand upon my people-skills and my ability to multitask quickly and effectively.
As the intern for Editor-in-Chief Jodi Henderson, I sought out and completed assignments independently. I mainly edited and reference-checked articles submitted to the journal, but also completed administrative tasks such as creating a calendar of conferences for the Editor-in-Chief and publishing Slavery Today's Calls for Papers on various databases that I located and found suitable for the journal's mission.
I assisted the Head Children's Librarian in managing the children's section of the Fayette County Public Library. This included independently pinpointing tasks that need completing and doing so quickly and effectively. As a result, during my summer internship, my responsibilities included shelving books and maintaining neat, orderly shelves, assisting in planning and set-up for events put on by the library, and recording Lexile numbers in all of the books in the children's section.
I volunteer for six hours about once a month to help with the production of one show by the Atlanta Shakespeare Company. My role varies according to demand by the volunteer manager and includes taking tickets, bussing tables, working the gift shop's cash register, cleaning the facility, and completing other tasks as assigned by Volunteer Manager.
