Diversity and Inclusion Council
I was apart of the Diversity and Inclusion Council through the Kentucky YMCA, where I served as a chair. My duties included talking to the advisor of the council to retrieve questions to guide the conversation between me and my group. I ask them questions around the Y conferences to get their perspective on how inclusive and accessible the conferences are to all groups of people. I then collect their responses, give them to the advisor, then the advisor along with another group of people work on implementing our suggested changes to the Y conferences to make them more inclusive.

Y-Club
I served as the Fundraising Chair for this club. I would inform the club on creative ways that we could fundraise for our club to attend conferences. Our club attended two conferences, Kentucky Youth Assembly (KYA) and Kentucky United Nations Assembly (KUNA), at those I served as a delegate, a bill sponsor (KYA), and a Resolution Sponsor (KUNA). At KYA, I along with three other girls presented a bill that would allow menstruating people two excused days off of school per month, per semester. We found that it would not only benefit those suffering from the symptoms, but would also increase school funding, participation rates, and attendance rates. We were very successful and received two awards for this bill. At KUNA I along with three other girls presented a Resolution that would incentivize STD testing in Kenya to help lower STD rates. We were very successful at this conference and received awards for this as well.

Student Council
I participated in Student Council during my junior and senior year of high school. My junior year, I ran for Junior Class President and won. My duties included planning prom, coordinating "Happy Birthday" emails to staff and brainstorming ways for students to feel welcomed when returning to in person classes. During my senior year, I served as Senior Class Secretary. My duties included taking detailed notes of all meetings, taking attendance, sending students who missed the meeting the notes, helping the President plan school and volunteer events. For example, we hosted a Blood Drive for the UK Hospital and the student council officers were in charge of welcoming in students, providing them with instructions to sign up, providing them complimentary food and water, then signing their class note and a verification for volunteer hours. We also planned the prom theme, spirit week, and the venue. I was also given the opportunity to sit on stage and give a speech during the 2022 Commencement Ceremony.

Biomedical Sciences Magnet Program
"At FDHS, we offer the Biomedical Sciences (BMS) Pathway. In these courses, students play the roles of over 50 different biomedical professionals as they investigate and study the concepts of human medicine, physiology, genetics, microbiology, and public health. In the PLTW BMS Program, students engage in activities like investigating the death of a fictional person or dissecting a sheeps heart, learning content in the context of real-world cases. They examine the structures and interactions of human body systems and explore the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. Students work collaboratively to understand and design solutions to the most pressing health challenges. The future of biomedical sciences comes alive in this rigorous and relevant four-course sequence that prepares students to continue their studies through post-secondary education and careers." Throughout my four years in the course, I learned about the human body systems, different diseases that affect those body systems like Type 1 and 2 Diabetes, develop a case study, construct a biomedical technology presentation, and conduct a research study that observed the relationship between medication and mental health disorders to see if there was a more effective way of treating them. During this course, I took and passed the "NOCTI" exam which certifies me to work in a lab, received my white coat during the White Coat Ceremony, and received a stethoscope at the end of the program.

Eco Rep
"EcoReps serve as sustainability ambassadors in their residence hall as they provide outreach, organize and participate in events and help further the universitys sustainability goals. The following is authored by Kathryn Tutwiler, UK Recyclings EcoReps coordinator for this academic year." During my time as an Eco Rep, I attended one two hour meeting every other Friday to learn more about environmental sustainability and an effective way of educating my peers on the topic. I also hosted two tabling events, one of which was in my dorm hall. That tabling event lasted two hours and I talked to residents about how and what to recycle, why they should recycle, and offered an info sheet as well as environmental friendly giveaways. The second tabling event took place in the Student Center on my campus. I was apart of the "Materials Management" group and our main goal was to educate people of different materials that are better for the environment and ways to limit the amount of waste they produce. To do this, my group hosted a "Plant Adoption", students were able to build either a tomato, cilantro, or jalapeo plant. Their plants were put in a biodegradable pot and while they built their plant, we informed them of the steps they needed to take in order to keep their plant happy: Watering it, providing it sunlight, and not littering! They were also able to fill out an adoption sheet and take a care sheet with instructions on how to keep their plant alive.

Growing Up Essay
This essay was for my HIS 109 class and I received a 95% on it. It responded to the prompt: "Absolutely everybody suffered equally from the Great Depression. It was a truly terrible time. But when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and America joined WWII, every young and able-bodied man took up a gun and fought in either Europe or the Pacific against America's enemies." Looking at the characters in Growing Up, how do the experiences of the members of it challenge, complicate or back up this statement? And was it different for different characters? If so, why?"
