Majoring in Psychology
Southern New Hampshire University
From Saint Louis, Missouri
Hi, I'm Kiley. I'm 25 years old, majoring in psychology with a concentration in mental health counseling. I received my associates 12 days before high school in 2017 and then went into marketing and sales. In 2019, I had a beautiful baby girl! We traveled A LOT and managed over 50 stores and sales teams in Illinois, Tennessee, Texas and Nevada from 2019-2023 for fortune 500 companies such as: AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Spectrum, Direct TV, Assurance Wireless, and The Breast Cancer Foundation. I excelled at a young age by using psychology and empathy to teach new sales reps/new leaders, build client relationships, interact with the community/understand culture. This brief description involved almost 24/7 on the clock, 12 hours in stores a day, 4 hours on zoom calls or interviews, hire/discipline/terminate people, manage customer/associate complaints, and direct sales with the customers.5 years later, I finally decided to go back to school to become a college psychology professor!

Module Three Activity
PSY-328-17826-M01 Theories of Personality 2024 C-3 Overview In your journal activity this module, you took the Big Five Personality Test. Your results speak to where on the continuum of extroversion you fall. Scoring high on extroversion would indicate that you exhibit traits of being an extrovert, while scoring low on extroversion would indicate that you exhibit traits of an introvert. In this activity, you will explore the differences between introverts and extroverts in a workplace or school setting, and the ways these personality traits in managers and team members can influence team dynamics. Grade- A

Module Three Journal
PSY-328-17826-M01 Theories of Personality 2024 C-3 Overview In this module, you will read about trait theory and take the Big Five Personality Test. When taking this test, consider using your emotional intelligence skills both as you complete it and when you are interpreting your results. This test is about providing you with more information about yourself and is not intended to promote any negative self-talk. Each of the five dimensions is measured on a continuum. You can gain information and insight into your personality if you score low, high, or in the middle of each of the dimensions. For example, scoring low on neuroticism means you are more emotionally stable than if you scored high. However, if you score in the middle, that also provides valuable information because you exhibit some characteristics of each side.

Module Four Journal
PSY-328-17826-M01 Theories of Personality 2024 C-3 Overview As Abraham Maslow said in The Psychology of Science: A Reconnaissance, “I suppose it is tempting, if the only tool you have is a hammer, to treat everything as if it were a nail” (1966). In previous modules, we have learned about psychoanalysis, the new wave of psychoanalysis, and the trait tradition. In this module, we have learned about the humanistic approach. This approach challenges a potential cognitive bias in psychoanalysis that treats behavior as pathology, or something that can be diagnosed and treated. For this journal, we will step outside of the pathology lens on behavior and focus on the role of happiness, self-improvement, and compassion. Grade- A

Module Six Journal
PSY-328-17826-M01 Theories of Personality 2024 C-3 Overview Modules Three and Five exposed you to the tension between traits and states. In this module, you learn about the adjustment domain. What do you do if you realize you are acting in a way that you feel contradicts your normal behavior due to internal or external stressors? Learning more about strategies for adjustment and coping can help you navigate through times of stress in both your personal and professional life. Chapter 13 of your text and your own personal experience will help you complete this journal.

Project One Milestone
PSY-328-17826-M01 Theories of Personality 2024 C-3 Overview As you can see, each theory makes certain assumptions about the origins of personality. Depending on the theory, the focus can be on unconscious motivators, unmet needs, social forces, acceptance by your parents, biology, or your predominant tendencies or traits. If you find yourself following only one particular theory or approach, you might develop tunnel vision. You might miss observations, inferences, and conclusions that don’t fit the assumptions of your chosen theory. That is why it is important to be aware of more than one theory, while acknowledging how they compare and contrast. Understanding the differences between theories will allow you to acknowledge the strengths and weaknesses of each theory. It will also allow you to think of the person on different levels. For this assignment, you will compare and contrast two personality theories or approaches from the personality theory list. For example, humanistic psychology and psychoanalytic theory are almost polar opposites so these are easier to contrast, yet there are some commonalities, too. The choice of which two personalities or approaches to compare is up to you. This milestone prepares you for Project One, due in Module Six. Grade-A

Project Two Milestone
PSY-328-17826-M01 Theories of Personality 2024 C-3 Overview As you are aware, life is full of relationships. We consistently interact with individuals who may need to guide us, provide advice, or provide services. Some people achieve success in their field because they possess personality traits that align in ways that work for them and others. Understanding how a person in a certain profession may display personality traits (e.g., the doctor you choose to deliver your baby, the mechanic who changes your brakes, or the teacher you learn from) can help you achieve your goals as you move forward in life. Looking for traits in people is a practice that, in conjunction with what you have already learned about personality, will allow you to better understand people and how people interact in the world. It also opens your mind to personality traits and qualities you may have been previously unaware of, or even misinformed about, but now understand. This can help with day-to-day interpersonal interactions in the world. It could also help with preconceived notions, which may have hindered or separated us from others. Learning and understanding all levels of personality will only help us interact while being different. For this assignment, you will consider different professions and the role that personality traits might have on professionals in that field. These are the types of relationships between professions, professionals, personality traits, and potential stress in the workplace that you will be exploring in this assignment. An example, using the role of a lawyer, has been provided for each criterion in the prompt below. This milestone prepares you for Project Two, due in Module Seven. Grade-A
