Research Assistant at Georgia State University

Alongside another intern, I was responsible for assisting Dr. Stephanie Lindemann, a prominent member of Georgia State University's Department of Applied Linguistics and ESL, on her research with:
Recording speakers with northern, southern, or non-native accents
Analysis and editing of recordings
Feedback on training materials
Background reading of articles and manuscripts relevant to training program/research project
Coding/Scoring training data
Reflection on what contributes to communication difficulties across linguistic differences
Endnote bibliographic entries

By the end of my time interning with Dr. Lindemann, I feel as though I was able to gather more insight on researching methods as well as gain more experience in analyzing responses on broad topics referring to language use.

Office Assistant at Kids R Kids
I had helped the office workers with whatever jobs they needed to get done such as filing, printing, laminating, and doing roll checks for each classroom. I had also stood in as an assistant teacher on a few occasions in case one of the main teachers needed to step out of the classroom.

Microculture Project (Capstone)
We were to study the language of a microculture that we were not a part of and through the use of interviews and studying of literary texts, analyze how the people of the microculture used language to define themselves.

KORE 3001/3002 Blog Project
This project was completed to showcase new grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure we have learned over the span of one year for our Advanced Korean Class at Georgia State University (KORE 3001 & KORE 3002). To successfully complete this project, students were to create a blog using both Korean and English to describe a topic, in which case I chose food. Students were also to create a script and an instructional video about the scripts we made, while making sure to include new vocabulary and grammar points.
