First and foremost, I must maintain constant supervision of inmates to prevent any escape attempts or acts of violence.
Additionally, I must maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the facility by ensuring cells are properly maintained and that inmates are following all rules and regulations. I must also search cells and inmates for contraband and investigate any potential violations of policy or security threats.
Another important aspect of my job is to maintain positive relationships with the inmates and act as a liaison between them and the outside world. I must work to encourage rehabilitation and provide support for their transition back into society.
Finally, I am responsible for reporting any incidents or concerns to my supervisors and maintaining accurate and detailed records of all inmate activity.
Being a correction officer is a challenging and demanding job, but it is also incredibly rewarding. Knowing that I am making a difference in the lives of those under my care is a source of pride and motivation that drives me to continue to work hard every day.
