Lynn Gillie, Ph.D.

I teach vertebrate physiology, ecology, behavior and anatomy as well as mentor student researchers here at Elmira College and abroad. My students and I study mammal and bird behavior and ecology. We have conducted studies on campus, at Tanglewood Nature Center and on San Salvador Island, Bahamas. Students have presented the results of their research for the Animal Behavior Society, the Tri-Beta National Biology Honor Society, and the American Society of Mammalogists. I am currently the Pre-Health Professions Advisor for students interested in medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, veterinary medicine, physician assistant, pharmacy, optometry, podiatry, chiropractic or other health care professions. Courses I have taught off-campus include Marine and Island Ecology (Gerace Research Centre, San Salvador, Bahamas), In Darwins Footsteps (Galapagos Islands, Ecuador), and Natural and Social History of Australia (Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Cairns, and Alice Springs, Australia). My passion for teaching has led me to seek out leadership roles in ACUBE, the Association of College and University Biology Educators. I am a past-president of the association, and attend and participate in the collegial and inspiring conferences held each year.
