Lindsey Nielsen

Lindsey Nielsen has always been very fond of music. Ever since the age of three, she has been playing the piano, and singing at church services, weddings, and other various events. As a fourth grader, she joined the Rapid City Childrens Chorus (RCCC) and was placed directly into the top choir. She was a member of the RCCC for six years until she graduated out of the program during her freshmen year of high school. In 5th grade, she helped lead her grade school, Grandview Elementary, to victory at the local music memory competition. Throughout middle school, Lindsey was a member of three different choral ensembles, one being a select group, and was a choir representative during her 8th grade year. She was also accepted into the South Dakota Junior Honor choir during her 7th, 8th, and 9th grade years after auditioning. During her high school career, Lindsey participated in five different choral ensembles, two being select groups, and received superior ratings on the solos she took to contest during her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She also starred in six theatre productions and had the privilege of playing the narrator in the Stevens High School Production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The summer after her junior year, Lindsey was nominated for the Midwest Ambassadors of Music European tour and had the opportunity to sing with a choir in seven different countries. Lindsey was a member of the South Dakota All State Choir during her junior and senior years of high school and received the National School Choral Award upon graduating. Lindsey Nielsen is now studying Music Education at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota under the direction of Dr. Russell Svenningsen. She received a Pro Musica Scholarship for her vocal talents along with many others. Lindsey is a member of the University Chorale and looks forward to her next four years at Augustana.
