February, 02 2016 - Verified by Olivet Nazarene UniversityIn the fall semester my duties as a Writing Assistant mostly consisted of working various shifts at ONU's newly-formed Writing Center. While there, I helped students through walk-in or scheduled appointments on better understanding writing assignments, finding resources, strengthening thesis statements, and citing their sources. Now, my role is to help build our Canvas page and work on curriculum to help train new employees and resources that we can hand out to students who come to get help.
I worked for Admissions West at Olivet entering data for both potential students and incoming students. I performed a variety of tasks, including processing transcripts, entering student applications, and assisting in large-scale mailings. I have been trained in using the Ellician software Colleague and Recruit and aided in the smooth transition from using Recruiter 3.7 to Recruit 5.0.
I was responsible for taking detailed notes for a student in one of my classes to better assist them in their learning. I checked in with this student after each class period to give them their notes as quickly as possible.
