Our research focuses on epilepsy, neuroplasticity, and stem cell replacement therapy for temporal lobe epilepsy. We aim to understand at a mechanistic level, how neurodegenerative changes, axonal sprouting, and aberrant neurogenesis contribute to epileptogenesis and spontaneous seizures in temporal lobe epilepsy. • Perform immunofluorescent staining in brain sections, confocal microscopy, tissue culture (primarily astrocyte cultures), electroencephalographic recordings, tissue extraction surgeries, western blotting, and a suite of behavioral tests in mice. • Use GraphPad Prism and Excel to perform statistical analyses of collected data and to produce figures for publication. • Collaborate with fellow lab members, both undergraduates and Ph.D students in executing and designing experiments. • Read and discuss primary literature.
