Examined the role of a gene of interest, FMR1, on a cricket species ability to produce new neurons, behavior, and immune system. Fed cricket colonies with food and water, counted offspring hatching from eggs. Conducted cricket fights between males to study the tangible effects of the FMR1 gene knockdown on their agonistic behavior. Synthesized and purified biological macromolecules, e.g. double-stranded RNA, cyclic DNA, in preparation for the knockdown of the FMR1 gene.
