Lydia Erakare

I'm Lydia, a junior student at SUNY New Paltz studying Early Childhood & Childhood Education with a concentration in English. Working with children brings me so much joy and I am excited for my future as a teacher and mentor. SUNY New Paltz is my true home away from home and I am blessed to be a student here. I am originally from a small, country town near snowy Buffalo, NY. Growing up I was heavily involved and tried to fill each day with activity, this habit has only continued as a college student. At SUNY New Paltz: I am a proud member of Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority in which I hold many positions. For many years now we have held the title for the highest cumulative GPA, as an organization, on campus. Being a sorority sister has benefited my college experience greatly and the Greek life community here at SUNY New Paltz has become my family. I am also a Student Ambassador working for the Office of Undergraduate Admission. I adore being on the staff and love everything that the job entails such as giving campus tours or participating in panels. My role as a Student Ambassador has strengthened me in numerous ways and I am proud to represent my school! I also work as an Admissions Assistant. Through this position I help prospective students and their families schedule campus visits, answer their questions, assist with other various office duties, and play a leadership role within the ambassador staff.
