Mackenzie Florence
My name is Mackenzie Florence, I am a Nutrition major and hoping to continue school with a focus is herbal and natural medicine. I believe that if we were able to survive for tens of thousands of years with remedies coming only of the earth, then we should be able to use our knowledge gained from modern medicine, to create new medicines which are plant-based. My hopeful goal in life is to create such "new medicines," I would like to aid in the production of replacement natural drugs.

Yearbook
I began Yearbook my Junior year as a replacement for major at the school, Graphic Design, losing the department. Senior year I was the editor, and designed the cover, pages, layouts, and organization of images. I was very proud of this book as it won several awards and was called "The best yearbook we've had in years" by the Principal.

Dance
My minor at school was dance. I was best in ballet, but also took contemporary and jazz during the school day. Each year I would perform The Nutcracker in the winter, and whichever famous ballet we would showcase in the spring. My Junior year, I even performed in a contemporary piece in the Fringe Festival. These performances would require 2+ hour long rehearsals after school, once or twice a week.

Airbrush Artist at People's Painters of Atlanta
I paint faces with stencils and an airbrush machine. Most often this will be at an Atlanta Braves, Falcon's, Hawks or Dream game. When not working at a Major League game, we can be requested at private events such as church fairs or corporate events.

Desk Assistant at Dekalb County Public Library
During the later years of high school, I worked as a Page at the Decatur Library. This means it was my job to make sure the books were in their intended places. This ranged from pulling books from the shelves when requested by patrons, to placing just returned books back on the shelves. On occasion I would also prepare the arts and crafts activities for the children's programs. June of 2015, I took my current position as a Desk Assistant at the Processing Center. Here, I ensure the new books have the the necessary stamps and stickers to become an official library book. I then assign each to the appropriate branches. Often times books will come back to the Processing Center in need of repairs, such as needing a new "jacket" to protect the cover sleeve or needing a new label to be identified on the shelves.
