Vitito Fellows are selected from among outstanding undergraduate students pursuing majors in the Scott L. Carmona College of Business and Management at SVSU (or in exceptional cases students that have declared a Business minor). To be eligible, the students must be sophomores who have completed at least 45 credits at the time of application to the program, including some core business courses. Candidates must commit to three consecutive semesters of course work, co-curricular activities, and global travel experience in order to be admitted. All candidates must demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential, and a commitment to community service/ involvement.
Vitito Fellows are interviewed by a Selection Committee chaired by the Dean of the Scott L. Carmona College of Business and Management. This committee makes recommendations to the University President. Final selection of Vitito Fellows are made by the SVSU Foundation Board, upon recommendation of the University President.
The goal of the Vitito Global Leadership Institute (VGLI) is to foster a deep understanding of the importance of leadership in a global context, and its role in transforming organizations and communities. Through a two-year program of coursework, fieldwork, an international travel experience, and a capstone project, Vitito Fellows acquire the integrated knowledge, skills, perspectives, and experiences that can only be found in a premier leadership development program.
Vitito Fellows complete specified coursework and supervised international travel to add a concentrated focus on leadership to their undergraduate studies. Vitito Fellows engage in field experiences with regional business and community leaders, including a capstone project with an external organization that may include strategic planning, fundraising, program sustainability and other issues. Fellows may also meet periodically for informal seminars or discussions with business or civic leaders.
Delta Sigma Pi (DSP) is a professional, co-ed fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities; encourage scholarship, social activity and networking opportunities for you advance yourself through research and practice; promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and students; and further a higher standard of business ethics and culture, as well as the civic and commercial welfare of the community.
