Phi Eta Sigma Honors Society: This is an American freshman honor society. Founded at the University of Illinois on March 22, 1923, it is the oldest and largest freshman honor society and now has more than three hundred and seventy-five chapters throughout the United States and more than 1,100,000 members. Requirements: A cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale at the end of any full-time curricular period. A normal academic load acceptable toward a bachelor's degree. A class rank in the upper 20 percent of their class.
