Solar Turbines Incorporated, a subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of industrial gas turbines. Being in the Customer Services Finance department has given me more experience in providing exceptional service to our customers and other employees. In my initial internship position, I was given a wide array of responsibilities: • Validated and prepared journal entries and monthly account reconciliations • Approved and recorded product based revenue recognition • Analyzed and reported product malfunction issues for enhancement of operational forecasting • Provided product malfunction report for project managers with total exceeding $34M • Created and consolidated accounts receivable advance report with balances exceeding $180M • Prepared and analyzed monthly cycle count inventory reports for internal audit • Software Used: BaaN ERP, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, CICS OLTP, OPD and Lotus Notes In June 2014 I was given more responsibility within the department by switching to the Product Refurbishment & Upgrades (PR&U) internship position. In this position my duties include: • Preparation of cost and margin analysis for multi-million dollar projects • Aid in the implementation of a new accounting process for project managers • Invoicing and recognition of revenue for domestic and international projects • Training and support of new office staff on department procedures, tasks, and policies These activities have allowed me to collaborate and interact with company management to improve my professional communication skills in a demanding business setting.
