The University Book Store Academic Excellence Award is awarded for academic achievement and the completion of a high-quality honors research thesis. I researched the psychological, cognitive, and social impact of religion on academic performance and published my findings in the Anthropology department at the University of Pittsburgh. Completing the project taught me how to plan and execute an independent field project as well as communicating my research findings.

The Outside of the Classroom Honors is awarded for the completion of 10 competencies including Leadership Development, Appreciation of the Arts, Global and Cultural Engagement, Pitt Pride, Career Preparation and Readiness, Civic and Social Engagement, Initiative and Drive, Communication Skills, Well-Being, and Service to Others. Spanning across my 3.5 years at The University of Pittsburgh, I completed over 100 hours of community service, and one year of leadership training with a particular focus on global and cultural engagement. During my community service, I volunteered at a local soup kitchen, completed service at a local church weekly, served at women's shelters and senior care homes, sorted medical supplies at a medical equipment donation center, and helped weed communal gardens. After my leadership training, I organized a fundraiser for a local children's shelter called the Samaria project to promote its message and mission across campus.
