Continued fulfillment of Lab Mentor duties.
Organized and scheduled open lab tutor sessions.
Lead weekly meetings to discuss how labs will be run and materials needed for the lab.
Assisted in preparation of microscope slides containing Machrocheles sp. mites to be used in future research.
Maintained care of mites to ensure their health to be used in research.
Input data about mite slides and information on what occurred in the lab in an excel spreadsheet to keep proper statistics.
During my second semester at The University of Tampa, I was selected, upon recommendation of my Biology 199 Laboratory professor, to be a lab mentor for the Biology 199 Lab classes. Duties include:
Attending a prep meeting where mentors gather and discuss procedures for the next lab and prepare materials.
Participating in preparation for labs including creating agar plates, culturing bacteria, practicing wet mounts, setting up for dissections, and more.
Being available for questions during the lab as well as performing tasks deemed necessary by the professor.
Running an open lab section on Sundays to assist students with their questions and struggles in the lab.
