Majoring in Civil Engineering
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Class of 2025
From Lima, Lima, Peru
I am a highly motivated undergraduate junior passionate about humanitarian engineering. Coming from Peru, a developing country, I am pursuing a degree in civil engineering that I will use to conceive, plan, and develop major infrastructure projects for the benefit of the public. Currently, I am seeking a summer internship between June and August 2025, for which I am interested in the construction industry, with a specific focus on structural engineering and the design of infrastructure.

As Publicist (01/2025 - 04/2025), I managed the fraternity's social media accounts and directed marketing and PR efforts. Also through this fraternity, I tutored primary school-aged children in mathematics, reading, and writing weekly at the Hope7 Community Center and volunteered fortnightly at food deliveries for the Hope7 Food Pantry. I have also volunteered at philanthropy events and food and clothing drives in support of Hope7. As well, I was a part of the Fraternity and Sorority Commons Move-In Crew where I helped first-year students move into their dormitories on Freshman Move-In Day in 2023 and 2024.

Water Resources Engineering Intern at LSH Consulting Engineers

I modeled 3D hydraulic structures in AutoCAD, created meshes in SALOME, ran computational fluid dynamics simulations of multiphase flow in OpenFOAM and SimScale, wrote a report on the 11,600-sq. mi (30,000 sq. km) watershed's hydrology, hydric balance, sedimentology, glacier retreat, and climate classification, and developed a manual for current and future engineers to use OpenFOAM in hydraulic engineering projects for the agricultural development project "Chinecas."

May 2024 - July 2024
Construction Engineering Assistant at Albamar Grupo Inmobiliario

I performed in-field quality control inspections, such as verifying stirrup and tie diameter and corroborating spacing and electrical and sanitary installation piping, recorded column, plate, beam, and girder paving on AutoCAD blueprints, calculated the weekly area paved, and calculated lintel material and brickwork needed, as well as estimated total pre-slab area, using Microsoft Excel at the construction site of the 25-story, 363-apartment residential building IN+."

May 2023 - July 2023
Civil Engineering Capstone Design
I designed a 113,000-sq. ft. five-story mixed-use building in a six-person team considering sustainability, transportation, and client needs. For this, I performed structural analysis, such as member sizing and base plate design, for steel, developed a preliminary column grid using AutoCAD, and calculated embodied carbon for steel and concrete using Google Sheets.

EWB-RPI Panama Project Implementation
I traveled to Sandubidi, a rural, insular community in Panama, where I installed two solar electric systems and lights for their school, church and dining hall, which will provide power for educational tools, as well as improve quality of life through energy for lights and fans. I was also a Spanish/English translator for the project team, where I led a training session in Spanish on the maintenance of photovoltaic systems and batteries and conducted interviews to survey community satisfaction.
