January, 23 2018 - Verified by University of New HampshireWorking at the Circulation Desk or in the Multimedia Center it is my job to be the first one to assist patrons at the library. I check items in and out of the library, answer phones, and overall help patrons of all ages find what they're looking for.
After two months of regular sales duties I was given the responsibility of organizing the files and taking phone calls. After seven months I was entrusted to be a buyer for the store and to open and close the store by myself.
I was only able to work during the summer due to my schedule, however I was at this restaurant at its very beginnings, and even as a new waitress at a new restaurant it worked out and I'm very glad for my time there.
A stressful job that definitely broadened my perspective of just how much work goes into every type of job. It's unfortunate that fast food workers are treated so poorly when they're in such high demand. I worked as a cashier and in the window and came into contact with a larger variety of people than I have in any other line of work.
This was a 24/7 job. I learned a lot about myself in this experience. A lot of stress and frustration happens when working all day to keep kids safe and entertained. I mostly took care of campers but I also was required to work at the phone booth and recieve calls from parents, bring in mail, and help in the gigantic kitchens.
In this small fish/seafood/burger restaurant I have a wide variety of responsibilities. I have worked both morning and night shifts along with double shifts. I mostly deal with customers themselves as the cashier, but if needed I assist the line cooks with whatever they need and prepping. At this seasonal restaurant I have been asked to return three years in a row and have been twice awarded raises.
This was a volunteer position, although the owner gave me free horseback riding lessons in return for my service. This was my first job and I learned the value of hard work, and when it's appropriate to take a break or when I should finish the task at hand first. This was one of the hardest jobs I've ever worked but I'm grateful for the lessons it taught me.
