From the beginning of my biological studies, I have been interested in how we become what and who we are, starting from a single cell to a complex and ever-changing organism. Therefore, I find Developmental Biology enticing because it enables insight into the stories behind how we came to be through cell differentiation, body patterning, and gene expression. Due to this curiosity, I am interested in pursuing graduate education because I would like to further develop a skillset with techniques that allow me to study the brain. Many questions about development and function of the brain remain to be answered; one such question of interest being how unique brain regions require their identities and integrate with each other. Furthermore, I would like to use genetics as an approach to better understand neurological development, to tease apart how development of the brain is encoded in the genome.
