Mason Demant

I was born in Fortuna, California in 1987. I was a five season per year athlete in high school. I participated in wrestling (collegiate and freestyle), three shotput and discus for the track team, played basketball for the city league, and was a captain of the football team. After graduating high school in 2005, I joined the US Army as a combat engineer and was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During my time there, I was deployed twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2010, during my second deployment, while conducting combat operations, my vehicle was struck by a 500 pound IED. I sustained injuries that ultimately lead to my medical retirement. Then, after moving around the country for a couple years, I met and married my wife. We moved to Wisconsin and bought a house in Bangor. I finally ended up enrolling at Western Technical College to study to become an automotive technician.
