Md. Ibrahim Kholil, Ph.D.

Majored in Mathematics
Emporia State University, Class of 2017
From Chandpur, Bangladesh
Since I was young, I wanted to study Mathematics. Through the support of my family and teachers, I was able to excel in this ambition and complete my Bachelor of Mathematics. I faced some obstacles on my road to success, which I overcome with hard work and determination. Over the years, I made up my mind to tackle Mathematics. As a child I was told that Math was power, Math was the pillar of science and power was what I wanted. Math is my passion. So I took the challenge every year and thought of it as a game of cracking the code, but I still had doubts about my abilities. I believed my understanding would end when I reached algebra if I ever made it that far. Teachers also played a large role in guiding my academic path by motivating me to develop a keen interest in my subject. When I was a student of the higher secondary certificate (H.S.C), wasnt good at Mathematics. In my pre-test exam, I got only forty percent marks in Mathematics. Then my teacher told me that was not sufficient marks. The teacher added that I should come back as soon as possible. After that, I decided to improve my skills and to build strong fundamental Mathematics. Then I followed my teacher's instructions and started hard working in heart and soul. As a result, I got a hundred percent marks in Mathematics in my test exam. Now I am teaching two undergraduate label courses at Emporia State University. Using some tactics that I got from my teachers is affecting the classroom and I am getting success. I am sharing math knowledge with students and learning something new every day from students. It is a great opportunity to expand my knowledge. I am enjoying a lot to teach mathematics.
