Megan Thomas

I am currently pursuing a Management and Leadership degree as a freshman in the Farmer School of Business at Miami University. Aside from my degree, I also worked as a loan operations assistant at First Knox National Bank as well as client projects with Jay Pattern Design and the Kroger Company. I served as the cofounder and president of an alternative to the National Honor Society during my junior and senior years in high school. I was elected president of our high schools chapter of the National Honor Society at the end of my junior year, but about two weeks later we received a letter notifying us that NHSs membership fees were being raised by about 500 percent. After thoroughly discussing our options, I suggested that we start our own honor society. As we delved into something none of us had done before, I greatly advanced my creative thinking skills as we faced obstacle after obstacle in the process of founding the Ohio Scholars Association. During the summer between my junior and senior years, I worked alongside the other executives to construct a constitution and bylaws, file for a 501(c) 3 to become a legal nonprofit organization, and recruit other schools to join OSA.
