I'm Megan Helman and I grew up in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, which is approximately 14 miles east of Pittsburgh. I lived there my entire life with my parents, Tom and Tammy, and my sister, Maura. I graduated in the top 20 of my class at Gateway High School. I did gymnastics for 14 years at Gymkhana Gymnastics in Plum. I also taught gymnastics to young children for 5 years at the same gym. Sports are among some of my favorite things to watch, including the Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers. I also played the flute in concert band settings for 9 years. I am extremely excited for what my journey at Slippery Rock brings me in my future!

Environmental Club

I participated in the environmental club at my high school for two years. During my senior year, I served as the club's treasurer which allowed me to count, organize, and keep track of any money or donations made to the club.

Work Experience

Gymnastics Instructor at Gymkhana Gymnastics

At Gymkhana, I serve as a gymnastics instructor. I lead a group of up to 9 children around multiple stations and help them through various skills throughout the class. I have learned so many valuable life skills throughout my work, and this job has fostered my love of children and my decision to become an early childhood education major.
