Meshell Baylor

Meshell Baylor earned a bachelor's degree in human and social services Summa Cum Laude from Springfield College in 2017. Meshell currently works in family services as a case manager. She served as parent chair board member for Special Needs Network from 2009-2024 and is a board member at Westside Regional Center. Meshell works with families and children impacted by developmental disabilities and critical life challenges. In 2020 she earned her master's degree in human services and social services from Walden University. Baylor was a parent chair member helping to create awareness to special needs children. From there she was a part of the MHMSA Parent Mentor Program as a parent mentor offering guidance and support to other parents navigating the complexities of raising children with special needs. She helps them access services and connect with other supportive resources. Beyond her formal roles, she shares her experiences and knowledge to empower other parents and caregivers, helping them to become effective advocates for their own children by speaking at organizations like Families in Schools. Her dedication to advocacy not only helps individual families but also contributes to broader systemic changes that benefit the special needs community as a whole. Meshell was a category winner in the Nashville Song Service Lyric Writing Contest. She won in the Blues/R&B category with her song "Need To Know. Meshell Baylor has authored several insightful and heartwarming books, particularly focusing on themes related to autism and family dynamics. Here are a few of her notable works: Simons Voice: This book tells the story of a young boy with autism named Simon, who embarks on a journey of self-discovery. It's a delightful tale that highlights the importance of finding one's identity and happiness. I'm A Little Big Brother: This children's book explores the relationship between two brothers, one of whom has autism. It emphasizes the unconditional love and important role that siblings play in each other's lives. The story is filled with imaginative adventures and showcases the bond between the brothers.
