Farm Camp Counselor at Northville Community Foundation

Camp Counselor for the Day Camps at Maybury Farm. Incorporate the fun of summer camp with agriculture and environmental education on the farm that follows the State Science standards in schools. I watch over all of the kids and make sure that they are behaving and staying safe, while also having lots of fun. I give the campers hands-on experience in collecting and washing chicken eggs, grooming the donkeys, goats and sheep, feeding the horses, pigs, sheep, goats, cows, rams, and alpacas and weeding the garden. The campers learn all about the different animals on the farm, how we take care of them, and how they also provide us with resources such as milk, meat and wool. We teach the campers to take care of the environment by making fun crafts and playing games. The campers have many opportunities to interact with all of the animals and to go in and play in the younger animal's pens. I take the campers on nature hikes and wagon rides, play many games with them and give them a fun experience on a working farm learning about many kinds of animals, insects and plants.

Peer Mentor - Volunteer at Living and Learning Enrichment Center

Mentor kids and adults with Autism, Asperger's and social anxiety, in a casual and fun setting. During "Weekend Hangouts" I help the individuals work on improving their social skills through playing board games, video games, going to the park, going out for ice cream, dancing, coloring, and much more. Along with improving their social skills, the hangouts allow the older individuals an outlet to have fun and interact with others their age, that they normally wouldn't have access to after graduating high school. I help to provide a comfortable environment for the kids and adults to have fun, be themselves and make lasting friendships.
