Work Experience

Student Tech Assistant at Miami University

During my time with the Office of Residence Life, I was exposed to full stack web development. I became experienced with front end language as I upgraded the views to a responsive layout. I became familiar with the Model View Controller architecture facilitated by Ruby on Rails as I upgraded the web application from Rails 3.2 to Rails 4.2. I practiced with the relational database system MariaDB, and improved my skills working with SQL. The Office of Residence Life offered me a unique opportunity. I got a taste of a real work environment, and had the chance to really develop my programming skills. I learned much about personal responsibility and the need to deliver value consistently and abundantly. I also helped deal with hardware issues for the Resident Directors and Assistant Resident Directors at Miami University, often re imaging machines and helping troubleshoot internet problems.
