May, 20 2021 - Verified by Southern New Hampshire UniversityTewksbury Transitions is a men's facility, we hold up to 30 individuals. We take clients from detox programs and CSS programs that are looking to continue treatment and move on to a halfway house.
I would be assigned up to 12 clients at any given time. I start with the introduction and tour, I also give them a day to unpack and settle in before we sit down for the biopsychosocial assessment. If the client has immediate needs I assist right away, whether it be getting medicated assisted treatment, or checking in with a court or probation officer. After the first week we sit and discuss treatment plans, both short and long term. I check in with each client at least three times weekly, and document everything in the computer.
I have been training new staff as they come in as well as teaching the interns that come in occasionally, I am highly organized, patient, and supportive. In this field a new worker can thrive given the right training, and being supported by management.
I facilitate psychoeducational groups. Groups are one of my biggest strengths. I love learning and teaching. I believe if I can arm an addict with any, or all, information that may help in the recovery process.
I did my addiction counseling Internship at The North Cottage Program, a halfway house, intensive treatment facility, and three sober houses. The north cottage is one of the most reputable treatment programs and I was blessed and honored to do my internship at the Intensive Treatment Program. I worked with some of the best counselors and case managers ever.
