Elucidating the role of estrogen receptor-beta in triple negative breast cancer
There are conflicting findings suggesting that estrogen receptor-beta (ERβ) has both proliferative and inhibitory effects on the pathogenesis of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). A literature review of studies examining the viability of ERβ as a plausible molecular target for developing new TNBC therapies revealed that contrary findings regarding its functionality may be due to the heterogenous nature of TNBC and the type of cell lines used in various studies, discrepancies in the methodology and specificity of antibody testing, the varied expression of ERβ isoforms at the RNA and protein level, and how ERβ behaves in different races.

The Grant Development Efficiency Model: A Framework for Complex Grant Proposal Development to Enhance Efficiency and Improve Funding Outcomes
Developed by Nicole Crowell in 2018, the purpose of the GDEM is to transform the traditional grant development environment from one characterized by high stress and overwhelming workloads, to one that turns distress into eustress (good stress) and creates balanced and achievable workloads. Whereas the traditional grant environment has been characterized by limited proposal development support, the GDEM fosters an environment that provides strong project management infrastructure and expertise to help increase the efficiency of the grant development process, and allow the investigator more time to devote to developing and strengthening the scientific elements of their grant proposal.

The Grant Development Efficiency Model: A Conceptual Framework for Complex Grant Development
Addressing complex grant proposal development inefficiencies is critical to securing research funding, building a robust institutional research infrastructure, and forging a pathway to national preeminence as an organization. However, grant development principles and methods that can be universally applied to address proposal development inefficiencies, and that improve the quality and fundability of grant applications, have not been well-described, tested, or comprehensively documented. Specifically, the research development profession lacks formalized and comprehensive conceptual frameworks for the practice of grant development that enhance and fortify its theoretical and scientific foundation. Moreover, there is a need for evidence-based best practices for complex grant proposal development that are derived from clearly defined and measurable theoretical concepts that have been rigorously tested, and that can be universally applied across funding applications. The Grant Development Efficiency Model (GDEM) was created to address inefficiencies in the grant proposal development process. The model serves as a framework for developing evidence-based, measurable, and reproducible best practices for complex grant proposal development that can be applied across diverse research environments, disciplines, and grant applications.
