Nana Karikari is a multiple award-winning journalist and a UN Goodwill Ambassador.
She received Emmy nominations for her contribution to CNN's reporting of the 2013 War in Syria and the live coverage of 2013 Israel-Gaza conflict.
In 2011, she was presented with an Innovation award for her contribution to CNN's Globally Integrated News Production at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC). a top industry organization in Amsterdam that honors industry innovation.
Nana is also a Peabody Awards recipient for the network's 2011 reporting of the Arab Spring, 2010 coverage of the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and the coverage of 2008 U.S. Presidential Primary Campaigns and Debates.
In 2023, Nana was inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and Alpha Sigma Nu, the international honor society for Jesuit colleges and universities.
A year earlier, the U.S. federal government offered Nana an internship at the Department of State. She was assigned to the Bureau of Global Public Affairs in Washington, DC, where she worked with the Biden administration under the leadership of Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.
Prior to that, Nana interned as a Foreign Policy Advisor with the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations in New York. During her six months tenure at the Mission, she worked on Diplomacy, Government Affairs and Foreign relations projects.
In 2021, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg elected Nana to participate in a Journalism workshop on China's Overseas Lending, using the case of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project in Kenya.
In the same year, Oxford University and Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism recruited Nana to take part in a "Digital Deep Dive" program on Press freedom
Before then, Nana had completed a Criminal Justice reporting fellowship by John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. She also completed a Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation fellowship and participated in a Symposium on Crime in America.
In 2019, Nana was one of the 10 journalists from around the world, awarded a press fellowship at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. She covered the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly.
In 2015, Nana was one of the 10 journalists, selected from across the U.S. to participate in the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) exchange program in Germany and Belgium.
Additionally, she accepted an externship from German's state-owned international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle, along with German news channel n-tv and broadcaster RTL.
Nana was assigned to the German federal parliament, Bundestag, where she worked with Correspondents covering National Politics.
Nana is a member of the United Nations Correspondent Association. She serves as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Chair of Harvard W3D: Women in Defense, Diplomacy and Development, an innovative network dedicated to connecting and cultivating global leaders who work together toward sustainable peace.
Also, Nana is the Director of Administration for G100 Media Arts & Communications, an influential group of 100 women leaders from across the world.
As a Troop Leader for the Girl Scouts of Greater New York, Nana spends her free time volunteering at community events and Troop camping.
Nana has a Master of Business Administration degree with dual concentration in International Business and Communications and Media Management from Fordham University.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcasting, Telecommunications and Mass Media from Temple University, and completed a two-year leadership certification program from Harvard Business School.
