June, 04 2019 - The College of St. ScholasticaI have hired a staff that I will train and oversee all summer to ensure a fantastically safe and fun summer camp experience for the families of scouts who come up to camp.
While studying abroad in New Zealand I had the opportunity to be an education intern at Zealandia's Eco-Sanctuary. While there, not only did I learn copious amounts about the native flora and fauna on NZ, but I was able to take school groups on tours and teach them about what the sanctuary holds and what is special about the native birds/plants. I also helped them to develop a tool to use with groups of preschool aged children. The program that I developed helps to encourage curiosity and learning for children ages 3-6 who come to the sanctuary.
As a language TA for the ASL department, I help students to learn American sign Language and improve their overall skills. Students make appointments with me weekly to discuss assignments, projects, or general questions. I then grade their assignments and give timely and constructive feedback.
As a red crew member, I swipe people into the gym, complete general cleaning and upkeep of the workout area, help to make reservations and set up supplies, and act as the first responder in the case of an emergency.
For the two summers that I help this position, I created a new weekly program for each. I then trained my program staff in how to run the programs, and oversaw their work.
My job in the trading post was to stock, inventory, manage, and upkeep my store for the summer. I was in charge of families charge sheets for the week, ordering new supplies needed, and running the register.
