Leader Coach at Young Guru Academy (YGA)
For three years I have actively participated in Turkey’s first leadership school for young people: Young Guru Academy (YGA), which aims to “cultivate socially conscious leaders.” Starting with the annual summit, I’ve attended Social Entrepreneur and Social Innovation camps where we focused on different aspects of leadership through team-based activities. While working with a team to develop a curriculum for the Turkish National Education Program, I came up with an idea to change the way we were approaching the issue—and got my team believing in the change. In 2015 I was awarded the “leader coach” position, which requires taking responsibility for organizing the YGA High School Summit. I was graduated from the YGA High School Program by March 2015. Working for YGA has improved my leadership skills, and I have used those skills in organizing many of their events. This activity has also increased my understanding of effective ways to bring about change in the world.
